THE INTERNATIONAL BOY.
WORK OF WORLD'S COMMITTEE
A large number of Christchurch business men availed themselves of the opportunity of."meeting Mr Edgar M. .Robinson, World's Boys' Work Director of Geneva, Switzerland, at a luncheon given in the Christchurch Y.M.C.A.. yesterday. Mr A. F. Carey presided. Mr Robinson, in the course of an address on "The International Boy," said that the subject, he referred to was indeed hard to find. The boys he met in his visits to the different countries were intensely national —a fact which had become particularly noticeable since the war.
He proceeded to detail the feelings and ideals of the boys of different nationalities with whom he had come in contact, and said that, if we were to attain, our objective of. world peace, it was through these boys,, who were the future leaders of the world, that we must work. "Youth was tlio hope of the world, "he cor tended, and was ,mor9 open-minded now than ever before. He instanced how the boys of the different nationalities had been taught to hate each' other, and asked how world peace was to be attained when such was the ease. The speaker then went on to outline the work which was being done by the World's Committee, especially the Boys' Work Department, which he said was carrying out an investigation concerning boys and their attitude towards religion. He • wished the people of New Zealand to assist in this direction.
Speaking of New Zealand, he stated that there wan no country which should be able to produce more men per .capita for world leadership than the Dominion. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the speaker. .
