OTIRA EXCURSION.
About three hundred people took advantage of the railway excursion and spent an enjoyable time at Otira yesterday. The train left Christchurch at 7.50 a.m., and arrived a t Otira at about 12 o'clock. The weather was fine, and although the air was cold, the excursionists saw the mountains under ideal atmospheric conditions. The return journey began at 3.15 p.m., and the train was an hour in the tqnnel,.the locomotive developing some defect. Christchurch was reached shortly after 7.30 p.m., instead of the schedule tine of 6.68 p.m.
