Archbishop AveriU caused a good deal of amusement at the Auckland Town Hall on a recent evening by saying that he had been looking up the duties of a Primate in the early church. One, he found, was to hear charges of heresy. He hoped he would never have to do thai. '"The important thing about the title of archbishop is 'arch, he remarked. "There are archfiends and arch-conspirators, and I will say nothing about archdeacons. However, I hope they will realise that their bishop has joined the great brotherhood of arches.' 'WNew Zealand Herald*."
