NEW ZEALAND HOSPITALS.

ADMINISTRATION AND EQUIPMENT. (BiWju. to "mp! raws.") AUCKLAND, February 7. Referring to the suggestion that Dr. McEachern, of Canada, should be asked to report on New Zealand hospital administration and equipment, Mr Oarrick Robertson, a leading Auckland surgeon, says: "It seems a great pity that a man of such great experience should be allowed to pass by without toeing asked to report on our hospitals. However perfect they may bo, it Is probable they can bo made more perfect. Although tee re is no desire to Americanise the hospitals, there can he no doubt that during the last few years, partly owing to the appointment of such men as Dr. McEachern as hospital inspectors, and ' partly ' to the amount of money they have to spend, the main hospitals in America are splcudid examples of what such institutions should be. If the Government refuse this unique opportunity, it woulrt almost appear as if it were afraid of an adverse report on what is has declared to be perfect. I think the New. Zealand hospitals are good, but there is nothing so good that it cannot be improved, and it is hard to understand why we should not have the TJenefit of Dr. McEachern's experience. It is not enough to give him a free railway pass. The Government should sponsor his visit, give him a proper standing, and make his report an official matter. Now Zealand wants his report on its hospitals, and any ideas he may advance for their betterment." .
