REGISTRATION OF FIREARMS.
VALIDITY OF REGULATIONS. (ritESS ASSOCIATION- TELZGBAX.) AUCKLAND, February 8. A decision in a test case in which the validity of the regulations concerning of firearms was questioncd> was delivered by Mr J. W. Poynton, S.M., in tho Magistrate's Court. Tho case arose out of the "prosecution of a farmer for failing to make application for reregistration of certain firearms upon hi s change of address. Defendant gave notice by letter of his intention to change his abode, but the letter did not reach the officials. The defence was that tho regulations were ultra vires, as they provided that reregistration should be effecteo at each change of address, whereas Section 9 of the Arms Act required the singlo regulation to take effect throughout the Dominion.
The Magistrate held that the regulations relating to change of address and reregistration were valid.
