AUSTRALIAN POLITICS.

MR BRUCE SOUNDS THE RALLY.

(by cable—press association— copyright) (austkalian asd k.z. cable association.) (Received September 23rd, 10.30 p.m.) MELBOURNE, September 23. In his speech at the opening of the annual conference of the National Federation, Mr Bruce strongly urged the need for party unity and education along Nationalist lines, if the rising tide of Labour were to bo stemmed. He deplored the loss of ' enthusiasm and the wave of apathy in regard to Nationalist aims, Avhich recently had been so apparent. The necessity for the party embracing all ranks did not end with the war; it was to-day jusi as necessary in order to solve the great problems with which the country was confronted.

Unfortunately, owing to divisions in the ranks of those who believed in the Nationalists' policy, thcro was every possibility that Labour might be returned to power next election and give effect to its strangling policy. Party unity, organisation and education alone would prevent this.
