CASUALTIES.
W. Godman, employed by W. J. Carpenter, farmer, Yaldhurst, while driving a horse and cart yesterday, was the victim of a painful accident owing to the harness breaking. He was thrown out and received a severe kick on the left knee, which resulted in a compound fracture. He was taken to the Christchurch Hospital for treatment, and is progressing favourably.

Gunner James Patrick, who was injured by the back-firing of a gun at Newtown Park on Tuesday evening, and had to have his r,ight hand taken olt yesterday, is progressing as well as can be expected.
