RECONSTRUCTION MATERIALS
(by CABLE —PRE S S ASSOCIATION COPTEIOITr.) (AUSTRALIAN AND K.2. CABLE ASSOCIATIONS
(Received March 4th, 9.50 p.m.) TOKYO, March 3.
Over-supply of reconstruction materials caused a fall in prices, which is impelling the Government to use artificial means to maintain the stability of the market by assessing upon low sellers a special tax equal to the difference between the selling price and the original buying price. Lumber, steel, and iron, which between September and November rose 20 per cent., have now fallen below their August levels.
