Morton referred to the Licensing Commission's report presented to tue last Parliament, which recommended that in the event of the defeat of .National Prohibition, some revision of the licensing law would have to be granted to tue King Country. l>uring the last live years 2'66,975 gallons of. beer and spirits had been imported into the King Country, a-t an estimated cost of £224,627. He said ho considered that in the event of local option being carried in the King Co'u-try, it would be a good opportunity for the Borough Council to try the experiment ot municipal control of licenses.

Morton moved: "That the Te Kuiti Borough Council urges the Government to g.'-'e early ettect to the recommendation of the Licensing Commission with reference to local ogtion for the King Country; and in the event of restoration being carried, to grant a license to the Te Kuiti Borough Council."
