■ _4_ -_ NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL. A ■meeting of the New Zealand; Boxing Council was heldi on Friday evening Mr A. H. Kirk presiding. The executive report stated that permission had been ■granted* to.the Otago Association to match H. Gunn and D. ;Mnddox for fto fea-ther-weight championship. The Taxsmaii Association wrote asking for particulars of the Council's proposed amendments to the- Regulations in connexion with that section of the Police Offences Amendment Act, relating, to the boxing competitions. A reply had been sent to the effecs that the Council had not submitted any proposals, that the application of the Carter Gymnasium and Amateur Boxing Association for approval under the Police Offences Act <hadi •boem withdrawn, as efforts were being made to form a Wairarapa Boxing l Association. The report, was adopted. - . ... _ ■'> ■/■■■ Correspondence ,was received from- tie secretary of the New South "Wales Amateur Sports Club relating to the proposed tour of a South African team of amateurs. ine correspondence contained a cable message from South Africa stating! that <a tram would be sent provided all expenses were paid. As this was entirely different from the proposal submitted by the South, African representative to the New Zealand! Council andt (the State authorities, it was decided that the pieposed visit was not acceptable unless the original terms were adhered to. Correspondence was received from the Central Technical College, Brisbane, stating that it was desirous of arranging a bout between F. Gilshenan- and R. Mea-le, of Auckland, Australasian middle-weight amateur champion. The invitation was sent with, the approval of the Queensland Amateur Boxing and 'Wrestling Union. It was decided that while there was nothing. in the- rules to prevent euch a contest being carried out, the Council did not favour the proposal; also to convey the Council's views- to 'B. jMeale. r The Otago. Association WTote asking the Council to rescind is resolutions declaring the McCleary-McQuan-ie 'bout "no contest," I and giving reasons for its request.
