The returns of the Board of Agriculture for 1920 show that the farmed area in England and Wales under crops or grass was 26,189,000 acres, a decrease of 368,000 acres. The area under wheat nas 1,978,000 abres, an increase of 103,(00 acres. : The acreage under barlev declined: by 202,600 acres, and under oats by 137,000 acres. The live stock figures were:—Horses 1,384,000, an increase of 18,000; cattle '5,515,000,' a decrease of 81,000; aheep 13,806,000, an increase of 423,000; and pigs 2,505,000. an increase of 611,000.
