A NATIONALIST BLT3TT. (By Cabl®—Press A*ociation—Copjrljht.) ("The Time®.") ATHENS, January 29. A communique from Smyrna confirms the statement that Edhem Bey's force surrendered to the Greeks.
Nearly half the officers Mid men entered the Greek lines just when, the Turkish propagandist stories of Nationalist victories were gaining credence. It is supposed that Edhem unkindly selected that moment for surrender, in order to inflict the most serious damage on the Nationalist prestige. In the opinion of British observers, the reports of Nationalist military strength are mere bluff. ATHENS, January 20. "When he surrendered his force Edhem Bey held important positions. His surrender has considerably weakened Mustapha Kemal Pasha's lines. THE NEAR EAST CONFERENCE. (Rauter'g Telegrams.) ATHENS, January 30. Turkey refuses to pay any indemnity. , . _ r . . , Meanwhile, the Greek Prime Minister declares that ho will go to London as the plenipotentiary of an Allied country. as he does not consider anything has happened to change the views of the signatories to the Treaty of Sevres as regards Greece.
