MEETING OF GENERAL COMMITTEE. Tlie General Committee of the St. John Ambulance. Association met last night, Mr A. E. G. Rhodes presiding. Tho financial statement showed that the balance U> credit at the Union Bank was iMSS 10a 9d, at P. 0.5.8. (general fund) £113 7s sd, and to credit of motor ambulance fund £4GS 18s 9d. The socretanr to tho Governor-General wrote that certain recommendations for recognition had been forwarded for submission to tho Priory of St. John. ! Tho' Superintendent of Police, Christchurch, wrote that in accordance with the Association's request, constables would be instructed respecting the Association's depots in and about the city. i The Timaru sub-district asked for sanction for a mixed class in first aid at Gcraldine, owing to the difficulty of getting a full class of one sex. It was decided to sanction the claxs. On the motion of Captain W. W\ McKinney, it was decided to approach the larger firms in the city, especially those in whose businesses accidents were likely to occur, and suggest that they should follow tho example of the Railway Department and refund the fees of any of their employees who attended the Association's classes. It was reported that negotiations were proceeding respecting obtaining a third motor ambulance.
