PROGRESS LEAGUE.

MEETING OF EXECUTIVE

Tho cxecutivo of the Canterbury Progress League met yesterday afternoon, Mr J. A. Flesherj in tho absence of tho Mayor, presiding over an attendance of fifteen.

The Finance Committee reported on tho question of tho method of financing tho League. It was recommended that local bodies between the Rangitata and Cheviot should contribute yearly Gd per £1000 of tho capital value of each district. This would give an annual income of £1300. To obtain a further £1000 it was recommended that steps be taken to create an individual membership, and it was suggested that' tho minimum subscriptions for individuals be ono guinea, for clubs, friendly and other societies a minimum of 10s 6d, and for firms according to their importance. Tho roport added: —"Tho whole success of tho_ League's work will depend almost entirely upon the executive formulating ana carrying out a clear ? comprehensive, and attractive policy programme, so that both local bodies and business firms'and individuals may see exactly wiiat the Luaguo stands lor, ana wnat advantage is to be gained by subscribing to it." The chairman moved the adoption of tho report, which was seconded by Mr Albert Kaye, and agreed to, after discussion.

The following were elected the Propaganda Committee with power to add to their number:—Messrs J. R Hayward, A. F. Drayton, H. S. Bourn, C. H. Hewlett, G. Jameson, P. R. Climie, Goo. T. Booth, E. J. Howard, C. T. Aschman, G. M. Hall, H. D. Acland, and Dr C. Chilton.

The following were elected a Constitution Committee, with power to add to their number:—Hon. John Barr, M.L.C., Messrs T. W. Reese, D. G. Sullivan, J. A. Flesher, and H. ' J. Marnner.
