RICCARTON BUSH

At the annual meeting of the Riccarton Bush Trustees, Mr John Deans presided. Although the funds of the trustees are utrictly limited it was dccidcd to make a small addition, to the ranger's salary und to have some repairs carried out, Tho trustees decided to make aa annual inspection of the bush at some future date to be arranged, probably in tho spring, and to invito representatives of tho contributing bodies to bo present on that occasion.

Tho annanl report stated that during last year tho bush had been regularly open to tho public and had been visited by large numbers of people, and experience seemed to show that the advantages of tho bush were beiug appreciated and that they could be enjoyed without any detriment resulting to the butli. Further paths had been made and thoS3 previously formed had boon "improved and in other ysys tho trustees had provided for tho convenience of persons visiting the bush. An agreement had been made with Canterbury College by which the College ' would contribute annually tho sum of £•25 to, the funds of the trustees in return for special privileges for the study of botany granted to the Professor of Biology and the botanical students of the College. The balance-sheet showed that tho year commenced with a debit balance of £5o 4s Bd. The sum of £16 12a 9d had been received from tho sale of timber, etc., and £19 5s had been spent in improvements to the bush, the year ending with a debit balance of £23 Is lOd.
