IMPROVED SEED WHEAT.
The Canterbury iSeed Grower' Association has now been in existence for three years,. and has multiplied to a considerable extent the pure seed wheats that have been produocd at Lincoln College. The following varieties have been dealt with: —College Hunters, True Pearl, Solid -Straw Tuscan, and Purple Straw Tuscan, and each one of these has boen fried for five years on the Collego farm, and for one or more years on some other farm before being generally distributed to farmer-.. In no single instance, during the whole of the trials, have the improved .strains failed to give an increased yield ' (averaging about four bushels) over commercial seed grown in the same paddock. The seed now nva.ila.blo for distribution has been grown by members of the Seed Growers' Association, and each sack has sown into the mouth of it a certificate to the effect that the seed enclosed was inspected while growing, is relatively pure, and is free from noxious weeds. Enquiries for seed should be made to Dr. Hilgendorf, Lincoln Collego, who is acting, as honorary secretary to the Association. 1
