CANTERBURY COLLEGE.

MEETING OF BOAJtD OF GOVERNORS.

The Board of Governors of Canterbury College met yesterday. Present —Messrs H. I>. Acland (in the chair), L. B. Wood, H ; Boyd, W. H. Montgomery, J. J. Dougall, T. H. Davey, T. Hughes, L. M. Isitt, M.P., T. "W. Adams, C. H. Opie, A. E. Flower, Bishop Julius, Dean Harper and Dr. Lester. Apologies wero received from, and leave of absence was granted, the chairman (Mr J. C. Adams) and Mr W. Izard. Tho Registrar reported having received back from the Auditor-General tho balance-sheot without any tag. Professor C. F. Salniond wrote thanking the Board for its sympathy with him in the death of his father. Sir James Allen and Sir John niston wrote thanking' the Board for its congratulations on the honours conferred on them. Dr. Farr wrote inviting the members of tho Board to visit the new physics laboratory after the meeting of the Board. It was decided to accept the invitation. The following were re-electett the Board's representatives on High School Boards: —Rangiora, Mr C. W. Bell; Wainuitq, Mr W. H. Beckett; Akaroa, Dr. Cantrell. The College Committee recommended that, in accordance with the recommendation of the Lady Principal, exhibitions for the current year be awarded to the following pupils of the Girls' High SohouT:—Vida . Steele, Geraldino Box (boarding allowance), Irene Dawber, Enid Righton, Annie Schwebe, Nancy Lambic. Gladys Beswick, Doris Petrie : and that, in accordance with the recommendation of the Lady 'Principal, an entrance scholarship, tenable for the current year, be awarded to Constanco Sutton, in place of Enid Bowie, who has resigned her scholarship. The committee reported having approved of the installation of a 4-h.p. motor and pump for the water supply at tho Boys' High School^boardingliouse. The report was aSopted . The Museum and Library Committee recommended the appointment of Mr T. Collins as instructor of trade classes at the School of Art. his duties to begin as on March Ist. The committee reported having decided to close the Public Library on Good Friday and Enster Monday. The report was adopted.
