RIFLE SHOOTING.
CHRISTCHURCH ASSOCIATION,
The annual match between teams o£ five men from the town and country chibs took place at Red cliffs on Saturday afternoon, under anything but pleasant conditions. About midday a strong southerly wind sprang up and by the time the teams arrived on the range it was blowing down the gully with great violence, bringing duet and sand with it. This, added to the coldness, put accurate ebooting out of the question. The ranges fired were 200, 300, and 300 yards, the small targets being used all through. as,_ owing to the" strength of the wind, it was impossible to swing the lsrger ones. The good scores at 200 yards aro accounted for in a large measure by the eight-inch bullseye being
used. Results: — RANGIORA No. 2. 200 300 500 yds yds yds Tl. X. W. Pavitt .. 34 28 28 SO J Arnott .. 32 29 24 85 B Mehrtens .. 33 30 22 85 C." Wilaon .. 34 26 22 82 C.
