(.Before Mr T. A. B. Bailey, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. Two first offenders . were "convicted and discharged, and one other was fined os, in default 24 hours' imprisonment. Walter Rugg. charged with drunkenness, and a breach of his prohibition order, was fined 5s on the first charge, and 10s on the sccond. Alexander Martin, for being found drunk, was fined 10s. IDLE AND DISORDERLY. George Newman was charged that he was an idle and disorderly person, having insufficient lawful means- oi support. He was sentenced to three months' imprisonment. CIVIL BUSINESS. The adjourned cabo, A. F. Drayton (ill* v. £ujnry Wilson (-' Lr iunve.) was continued, lwfendant admitted plaintill's claim, and counterclaimed for £A) 0 for alleged wrongful seizure. Decision was reserved. In the ease of the Indian Motor. Cycle Company (Mr Johnston) v. James •Stanley Paterson (Mr Nicholls), a claim for £9 0s 3d, the defendant confessed the debt, and judgment was entered accordingly. A counter-claim for £15 was lodged by the defendant, who stated that tlra machine, over the sale .-if which the dispute arose, was not in order when ho received it. A non-suit was granted. LYTTELTON. (Before Captain 'R. Hutch well and Mr L. A. Stringer, J.P.'s.) DRUNKENNESS. Eilon Martin was convicted and discharged on a charge of drunkenness, and a prohibition order was issued against her. THEFT. Chas. Scott, a seaman on an overseas steamer, was fined £2, and ordered to pay 5s damages, for the theft of a suit caso from J. Hubbard at the Mitro Hotel, the alternative being 14 days' imprisonment. KAIAPOI. (Before Messrs C. F. Snpyd and A. Pearce, J.P.'s.) Austin Nugin, charged with vagrancy, was ordered to be jsent to the Tuarangi Old Men's Home, Ashburton."f APPEAL COURT. (riiESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, March 26. The Court of Appeal opened this morning. The list is exceedingly lengthy, comprising fourteen cases on appeal, two' applications to have solicitors struck off the rolls, a motion fpr leave to appeal to tho Privy Council, three Full Court cases, and seven apDeals against convictions for sedition under the War Regulations Act. The Court will hot sit from April sth to 15th. The appeals lodged on behalf of Brindle, Eraser, G'ooko and Semple, who are now serving, sentences for sedition, were mentioned in the Appeal Court to-day, and set down for hearing to-morrow. It is expected- that argument will extend over two or three day's.
