The Danish newspaper "Dagens Nyheder'' states that the Allies will permit the population of that part of Poland which is in Austro-German occupation to receive food from America, the Central Powers guaranteeing that it will be only distributed to the poor and will not reach soldiers or oidinarv civilians.
As the American Relief Committee's gift'of food will not arrive before Jujy. Norway is sending 40CKJ tons of grain, provided America will refund the same quantity. It is believed that Sweden and Denmark will respond similarly. RUSSIA'S AIMS. STATEMENT BY SIR EDWARD GREY. LONDON, .May 30. In the House of Commons Mr'Outhwaito drew attention to the statement of M.. Miliukoff, leader of the Opposition in the Duma, that Russia's supreme aim was to get Constantinople. He_ asked whether this Russia's view.
Sir Edward Grey said it was not- desirable to comment on an unofficial statement-.
