KOWAI COUNTY COUNCIL.
The last meeting of the Kowai County Council was attended by Messrs G A. McLean (chairman) J. Rowe, \Y. A. Nicholls, and W. H. Hale. Mr D. Bailey applied to have the road leading to hi s Mount Grey property improved. The surveyor was instructed to inspect and report. A letter from the Levels County Council suggesting a speed limit for motor-cars and motorcycles was received. Dr. Chesson wrote that, owing to the prevalence of infantile paralysis, the Council should take every possible step to improve the sanitary condition of the district. It was decided to ask residents to see that their premises were kept thoroughly clean. The Commissioner of Crown Lands wrote stating that the Land Board Lad. approved of the Council's scheme .of expenditure of "thirds. Tenders were considered for leasing Council reserves for seven years, and the following wer e accepted : —Reserve 2868, A. C. Benjes; 2808. Alex. Reid; 9628, Miss Gillon; 2322, Miss Binnie; 2669, M. Hanna; 2865, C. FitzPatrick; 2545, D. Wilson; 2347, R. Harrison; 2642, J Russell; 3723. H. James. Waste land adjoining bath,. Leithfield, J• Smith; waste land, Avmsbury road, Mrs F. Powell: waste laud, North road, Mrs C. Topp. Accounts amounting to £425 18s 2d were passed for payment. The credit balance on March 31st, 1916, was reported as £"91 16s Id.
