SUBSTANTIAL HELP FROM THE PARNASSUS DISTRICT.
A correspondent writes: —On behalf of the lielgiuni I'uiid, the ladies of vie i'arnassus district organised and carried out a most successful luncheon aim afternoon tea ou sale day at Parnassus, the 2oth ult. Mr uiles lent i.ooiSi-ed, wnieli Mr McGlrath, the manager, had cleaned up, and seating and table accommodation for relays came from the employees' quarters. There was u-n abundance of excollent food and fruit, with copious supplies of tea. Twenty ladies acted as waitresses, and performed their duties with a skill and sprynces that merited the commendation of the guests. The tiuancial result was £2 ( J 10s (id. A cheque for this amount was forwarded v> .\lv Cyril Ward, the Acting-Consul for Belgium, by the treasurer, Mr A. W. Rutherford, sen. Messrs Pow, A/lnir Olarkeon Bros., and Frank Rutherford each presented a sheep, which was auctioned.
