MEETING AT METHVEN.
A meeting of the Methven branch of the Belgium Relief Fund was held on Tuesday evening. It was resolved that the meeting heartily approve of the generous action of the Prime Minister in, giving £15,000 monthly to the Belgian Fund. After some discussion it was agreed to forwa-rd all moneys to the Ashbuxtan. County Fund, and all produce to Christchurch, as being the better market. It was decided to divide the district into three sections, and canvassers were appointed as follows: —Methven, Messrs T. Twomey and D. McDonald; north section, Messrs J. Henderson and 3.1. .uantrin: south section, Messrs H. Maginnees and Dan McKendry. Messrs Cuff and J. F. Stone were appointed , treasurer and secretary respectively. A letter was received from Mr 0. T. J. Alpers, offering to send up a concert party to aid the fund. The offer was accepted, and arrangements were made to "hold a monster entertainment on April loth. Messrs Morgan, McDonald, and the secretary were appointed a sub-committee to carry out tho details. The following offers were accepted with thanks: —Presbyterian Flower Show, half tho door takings; Rev. Dr. Kennedy, Fnion Jack, to be sold by auction under the auspices of the com-•.•iffo-oii St. Patrick's night: Mrs Orr, hand-worked bed spread; Mrs W. L. Aitken, hand-worked enshion. It was decided to hold an art union to dispose of these at the Methven Shcv, 'space having been granted free in the horns industry section, and Mesdames Morgan. MoKee. and Grover were appointed to take charge.
