single woman, and was ordered to find ■security in the sum of £150, and to.pay £2 2s solicitor's fee/ De|endant did not appear. , ; For failing to attend , the camp at Kowai, E. Trumper, D. M. King# M. McGillum, W. Neal, J. H. Prattfey, James Prattley, L. H. Benbow, M. Bill, R. Goodeve, and M. J. Fitzgerald were each fined 40s and costs. A case against D. Mclnnes was [ adjourned, as defendant had to attend the Dunedin camp in August. A case against J. Hamilton was dismissed, as at'the date of the camp the defendant, was under military detention, and could not attend. ' Tho Magistrate intimated that next year he would, in the case of convicted shirkers, order the deprivation of their civil rights for five years. He was holding such penalties over this year, ; because tho youths would not be of age until next year, and thus the deprivation would cover a year longer. Margaret Radford claimed £16 14s 4d from Leonard Radford for the maintenance of the latter's two children. An order was made for immediate payment, in default three weeks' imprisonment. J. MoKinnon (Mr Joynt) sought a Tβhearing of the case, himself v. Mrs Andrews (Mr Aspinall), which was heard j at the previous sitting, when judgment j was given for defendant, on the ground i that plaintiff had not proved owner- ! ship of the articles .of furniture he claimed. The request was granted. In Alexander McLeod v. W. J. Barker, claim £5 for breach of contract, judgment was given for defendant, with costs. - •■•-.■
