(PKISS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, July -7. The Appeal Court to-day heard argument in the case of Hills r. Ashton. The case raises an important question under the Land Agents. Act, 1912, the question being whether the engagement ,or appointment of a licensed land agent in* respect of a sale or other disposition or land, which engagement or appointment is required by virtue of Section 13 of the Act to be in writing, signed by the person to be chargod with'the commission, must be,, 6igned personally by such persons, or can it be signed by an agent for such person. Mr Cooper appeared for appellant, and Mr W. J. Tread well for respondent. The appeal is from the judgment of the Chief Justice, who held that a, land agent was entitled to Tecover. The Court did not make it necessary to decide the first question, whether signature by an agent was sufficient, but decided affirming the decision of the Chief Justice, that there was,, in the correspondence, an appointment actually signed by the appellant. The appeal was dismissed, with costs on the lowest scale as from a distance. STRUCK OFF THE ROLLS. On the application of the Wellington District Law Society, the Appeal Court made an order absolute GtriWg Oliver Noel Gdlespie off the rolis of barristers and solicitors of the Supreme Court. Costs were allowed to the District Law Society.
