ASHBURTON.

The fotirth annual meeting of the Ashburton High School Old Pupils' Association was held in the School Assembly Hall on Thursday evening, when the president (Mr R. B. Bell) occupied the chair. The annual report showed tnat the Association had 153 financial members, and -in consequence the Association's finances had been placed on a sound basis, there being a credit balance of £6 6s od. In addition, the Association had been able tor tho first time to assist the school institution. £o being voted to the library, and £1 Is to the school prize fund. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted: — President, Mr J. O. Jameson (Christchurch) ; vice-presidents, Messrs It. B. Bell, J. B. Christian, and K. H. Orr; secretary, Mr V. b . Walters, 8.A.; treasurer. Miss F. E. Kershaw. M.A.; committee, the officers, and Muses H. G. Collins, M. Ross, and V. Humphreys, and Messrs P. S. Crisp, M. H. R. Jones, aud P. Stephens. The following motion was passed:—"That it be a recommendation to the incoming committee that, circumstances permitting, the annual re-union should De held at the end' of June, or in the beginning of July." This fixes the gathering during the* winter vacation at Canterbury College. At a subsequent meeting of the committee, Mr R. B. Bell was appointed deputy-president. A "social" in connexion with the Ashburton Baptist Tabernacle annual harvest thanksgiving was held in the Church on Thursday evening, when occasion was taken to formally welcome the Rev. H. B. Hughes, the newly-ap-pointed minister. There was a good attendance, including many from other congregations in the town. The Rev. J. J.
