THE WATER PROBLEM. (SPKCIAT, TO "TID- I'RESS.") NEW PLYMOUTH, February. 23. In consequence of allegations bavin? boon made to the Minister of Mines recently regardmg the flooding of the oilfield by 'leakage from tho bores o_ the old comp_nv. Mr G P. Morgan, Director of Geological Survey, has been at New Plymouth making investigations. Quit, a number of tests aro being carried out, and though Mr Morgan is natu' rally moro or less reticent, he expressed himself as being fairly well satkfie-. that leakage was not taking plaoe to any great extent. At the present juncture, Mr Morgan said, he did not wish to make any definite statement, but ho went so far as to say thcro was every indicatiort t"br>t Motriroa would .->vo'op into a successful oilfield. Though deep, the oil should be found in crood oiiantitv. In -such oilfields salt water was generally met with, but it was not sea wter.
