ROSS GOLDFIELDS.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION' TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, February 23. The mine superintendent of the Ross Goldfields, reporting on the 13th inst., states: — Sixth level, No. 2 shoot, No. 2 south, has been extended to 163 ft from th. opening and stopped on account of the values becoming too poor. The men aro now taking off a few blocking strips. No. 4 south ha 3 been driven to 40ft in wash of varying quality. JJiis drive has been worked short-banded, -.o. 5 couth has been opened 48ft east of No 3 south and driven 12ft from the opening in wash of payable quality. Two parties axe blocking v this shoot. Tho prospecting shaft has only been 6Unk gix feet> owin | to the water m tho winze, and is now dow4_ft, on.y « few colours being obtaiiJd. _.hcrt_co ©f labour restricted the output of wash, but moro hands will be put on when they aro obtainable.
