AKAROA.
Tho monthly meeting on Saturday at Duvauchelle was attended by Messrs J. D. Bruce (chairman), Hay, Thacker, Williams and Newbegin. Ai motion of. sympathy was "passed with ! the relatives of Captain Scott and his companions in tho Antarctic expedition. The Department •of Internal Affairs notified that the letter AO and numerals 1 to, 500 had been issued to the council under the "Motor Registration Act, 1908." A resolution received from Bruce County advocating that contribution to Hospital and Charitable Aid Boards should bo made from the Consolidated Fund was . apnroved. Mr Newbegin reported that* hand rails and fenders had been fixed to AVainui wharf, and that tho steps needed repair. Correspondece • was received from Hon. R. H. Rhodes, member for the district relative to tne refusal of the Council's application for a grant of £1200 for Onawe Flat road and wharf, and suggesting a later application when tho drain on the Department's finances was not so stringent. It was resolved to make another application at a later date.
