TAXI-DRIVER'S CRIME.

Mr Htonry was wounded in tho groin, and his condition is serious. ' Bower was ret used a license because ho had been convicted of drunkenness. After tho third shot, Sir E. R. Sir Edward Richard Henry has been Commissioner of.Police in London sinco idO'A. Hte entered tho Indian Civil Service in 1873 as assistant MngistrntoCollector, and was appointed .Magis-trate-Collector in ISSS, and InspoctorGeneral of Police for Bengal in 1891. He was later (1900) appointed Commissioner of a Division, resigned his position in 1901, and was appointed Assis-tant-Commissioner of tho Metropolitan Police, which position he held until 1903. He is a Commander of tho Legion of Honour and an extra equerry to H.M. tho King.
