Acceptances for tho Woodvillo District Jockey Club's Summer Meeting closo this evening. v H Cutts, with Brown Owl and left last night for Wellington en route to Feildmg, and will assist at the Feilding Jockey Club's Spring Meeting, which commences on &aturday nest. -King's Favourite, whtf raced unsuccessfully at the Canterbury Jockey Club's Metropolitan Meeting, died at Timaru last week from an internal complaint.

Last week tho North Island sportsman, Mr R. Kerehoma, purchased tho two-year-old Bungeebah, by Stronghold —Tho Brat. Warlight was sold to a patron of R. Ellis's stables at Riccarton.

C. Emerson will ride Brown Owl in her Feilding engagements, whilo It. Berry will have tho mount on Nightwatch.

The Spring Meeting of the Takapuna Jockey Club will be commenced to-day and concluded on Saturday next. For tho first day's events good acceptances were received, and the field'for tlie .Melrose Handicap, a five and a half furlong's race, promises to bo an exceptionally large one, for at the present'time no fewer than thirtyone horses aro engaged. The St. Andrews Handicap is tho principal race on the day's card, and it promises to provide an interesting contest. W. Adams, who sustained a broken leg and collarbone as a result of his mount falb'nji at Dannevirke last September, will, it is to be feared, be.kept out of tho saddle for some months yet. His leg, it appears, has not been set properly, and will have to be broken and set again.
