Tho wharf labourers on several wharves havo refused to work with non-unionists.
Tho tally clerks' difficulty has been overcome by tho substitution of unionist clerks-
A significant request was. recently made to tho shipping companies and Stevedores' Association by tlio Clerks' Union for a conference to discuss wagw and conditions. It wa„ stated that if thero was no conferencp granted in tho meantime, a mass meeting would bo held on Sunday to consider tho situation. The clerks claim to have tho backing of tho water-front unions.
