DUNEDIN, July 31. The Hon. T. Mackenzie laid the foundation stono ot the new post offico at Kaitangau to-day. At tho luncheon, in replying to tho toast of "The Government/ Jlr Mackenzie said they were endeavouring to do the best thoy could in tho interests of tho whole people. When thoy went wrong Mr James Allen would toil them all about it. Then members of the Government would go on tho platform and show what fine feathers they had. and tho Opposition feathers would bo considerably bedraggled. Tho truth would bo found bstween tho two. The Government were not so bad as they wero painted by the Opposition, and were, perhaps, not so good as their friends made them out to be.
