The Riccarton Parish Fete will bo opened thw afternoon at 2.30 by Sir Charles Bowen in the vicarage grounds. The *'V" Union Fair will be opened in the V.M.C.A. Hall'at 2.30 this afternoon by Mrs Cole, New Zealand president of the W.C.T.U. Thero will be the usual stalls and ico cream, strawberries and cream, afternoon tea. etc., will be served from 5 to 7 o'clock.

The Woodend Athletic Sports have been postponed from Monday, *2«th inst.. to Tuesday, 27th.

In connection with the Christmas treat by tho Hospital Lady Visitors' Association and Destitute Patients' Fund, those desiring to contribute aro asked to send their subscriptions to Miss Turner, Fassifern. Donations in kind will be received by the matron at the Hospital. An exhibition and fancy fair in connection with the Girls' Training Hostel fund will be opened at the Technical College on Thursday nest, loth inst., and continue to Saturday inclusive. Jt will be* open from 2.30 to 5 and 7 to 9.30 p.m. There will be all kinds of amusements, musical entertainments, etc. This evening the jubilee of the -St. Alban's Methodist Sunday School will be celebrated in the church by a tea and public meeting. At tho latter the president of the Conference, Rev. C. H. Garland, and others, will speak, and reminiscences of old times in connection with tho school will be given.
