OTTAWA, May 26

Replying to President Taft's fresh invitation to tariff reciprocity negotiations, tho Canadian Government has asked for a postponement until September, owing to tho absence of Sir Wilfrid Laurier, Mr Fielding, and other Ministers, for most of the summer.

In the meantime negotiations for trade agreements are proceeding with Italy and Belgium, similar to the arrangement with France, and are likely to bo successful in the near future.
