MERIVALE v. CANTERBURY COLLEGE.

This match, which was played on the south ground nt Lancaster Park resulted in nn easy win for Merivale, who Mere much too good for their opponents, in both back and forward"divisioiis. Winning the toss, Merivale played with' the wind-at''their backs, and quickly set up an attack, but some excellent openings went astray through faulty passing. After several ■ ineffectual attempts; the forwards carried the ball to the College lino, and in the scramble that followed, W. .Menzies scored a try. which Cleary converted. The College forward* put in some good work, but sound kicking by the Merivale backs soon had play back in the College twenty-five. A passing rush ended in Cade crossing the line, but he was pushed into toiich-in-goal before grounding the ball. A few minutes later College were penalised and Cleary kicked a goal. Just before the spell ended an attack by the Merivale backs was concluded, by Mitchell scoring, but Cleary's kick at s goal went just out-, side. In the second half Merivalo quickly got to work, and a bout of passing enabled Cade to score, > but Cfeary 3 kick at goal was unsuccessful. Some dashing work by the Merivale backs let Fnller away with a clear field, and he scored an easy try, which he converted' himself.
