ALBION v. CHRISTCHURCH
Albion defeated Christchurch on the oast ground by 17 points to 6, after a fairly interesting game. The nrst spell was rory even, but in the second spell Albion "had much the better of the gamo. Good work by the Christchurch forwards took play to Albion's twenty-five, where a passing rush by the Christ - church backs was intercepted by Gray and the tjamc centred. Henry later failed to take- the ball and the Christchurch forwards quickly had him in trouble. Tosswill secured possession and passed* to Guiney, who transferred to Jncobson nnd the last-named scored. Guiney failed with the kick. The scene of operations was then changed to Chrisichurcb territory by loose rushes and scrums, and later they were compelled to force. Shortly alter the kick out Albion were awarded a penalty, and Weston equalised the stoics. Fryer -was given" nn opportunity in the next few minutes, but he lost the ball, and Jacobson, who pfcked it up, attempted to force his way over, but was pushed out, a few iijch'es off the fjoal line. Albion again invaded their opponents' twenty- | five, where Burns from a lcose rush seI cured tho ball, end run round behind the posts. Weston was unsuccessful J with the kick. Guiney and Morrison were both given a chance to kick penalty goals before half time was called, but their attempts were futile. On resuming, Christchurdi were placed on the defensive, and a mark by Giu'ney only brought temporary relief, fur Albion returned with a passing rush which looked promising till Spillane knocked on. .Morrison mish'elded the ball a little later, and Webb just missed scoring, the bajl being forced by Guiney. The Christchurch forwards, by good loose work, entered Albion's twenty-five, but Hums, by a good kick, relieved. The Cbristehureh backs, however, had Albion defending again. A good run by Turner and a kick found the line \vell in the Christchurch quarter, and owing to Jacobson misfielding, after some loose play, Weston was allowed lo run- in and touch down. He failed to convert. The game was later transferred to Albion's line, but good defensive work Lv Burns, and Gray centred, and then 'Ward broke away, and after a good urn, passed.
