Thefse teams met on the West ground at Lancaster Park, when the Old Boys won a closely contested game by 9 points (3 tries) to 8 (a goal from a try and a try), which scores fairly represented the difference between the sides, for although Linwood were more constantly on the attack than on the defensive, their backs gave such a poor display that they did not deserve to win.* Linwood (Greens) kicked 'off, and Simpson returned to mid-field. Watson was prominent in keeping up the pressure, W. Mahoney being conspicuous by sound defence. A passing rush by Bussell, Watson. Collins, Hu tellings and Love, went to the Greens' line. Murray saving in fine style. Doell made a futile shot from a penalty, and Love ayain found Murray impassable shortly before time Bounded, with Sydenham victorious by 3 .points (a try) to nil.
