With regard to the Australian sculling championship, Pearco is willing to accept Hagney's challenge to rovv in New Zealand, but -wants £50 expenses, win or lose. Hagney is not prepared to accept these terms-, and the race will probably fall through. THE MORESBY DOCKED. The etcamer Moresby, which recently went ashore, has been docked. It was found necessary to remote eleven plates, while a number of others have been damaged. AN APPEAL REFUSED. MELBOURNE, March 16. The High Court has refused an appeal by the proprietors of the "Age" for a new trial in the Swinburue"Aee" libel case. THE NORTHERN TERRITORY. ADELAIDE, March 16. An influential syndicate has boon formed in London to explore the Northern Territory for gold and other minerals. A DESTRUCTIVE FIRE. PERTH, March 16. Messrs Silver and Horne_ foundry in Kalgoorlie has been destroyed by fire. The damage is estimated at £10,000.
