SWIMMING.
OPAWA CLUB. The seventh annual meeting of the Opawa Amateur Swimming Club was held on Friday evening, Mr -J. W. Thomson (club captain) presiding over a fair attendance. . The annual report and. balance-sheet showed the club to be in a prosperous condition., .The past' season had proved the moat'successful the club had experienced. 'It was resolved to place on record the club's appreciation of the services rendered by the retiring secretary, wha had held the position for seven ' years. The membership • was now forty-lour. • Two new members were elected and two' resignation* were received. The following officers were, elected:—Patron,' Mr (reo liauienson, M,P.; president, Mr J. E. Garland; vice-presidents, Dr. Tytheridge, Rev. H. Williams, Messrs J. Gudsell, -W. Beadel. J. Treriee,- M. Steede, E. Wood, G. B Collins, W. J. Steven, W. Hollis, W. Wales, and Dr. H. T. J. Thacker; Club oaptain, Mr G. Gemmell; vice-enptnin, Mr C. Francis; secretary, Mr J. W. Thomeon; treasurer, Mr H. C. Hurst; handicappers, Messrs P. Menzies, H. C. Hurst and A. E. Talbot; delegate to Canterbury centre, Mr G. Rich; auditor, Mr P. Menziee; committee, Messrs C. Atkinson, L. Annand, P. Menzies, G. Rich, H. Rich, L. Moltzen and A E. Talbot. It was decided to open the season on Labour Day,.
