ALBION v. SYDENHAM. Tho eastern ground was occupied by the above teams, who played a close and even game. Occasionally the play was exciting. Albion have again to feel gratified with a goal from a mark, which gave them their win. Albion winuing the toss, Howison kicked off, and a long return by Aitken started operations in the Blacks' half. J. Mahony marking, gave Howison a shot at goal, which failed. Patrick returned to the Albion twenty-five, and a passing rush by tho suburban backs forced the Blacks. A fine rush, headed by Mahoney, was saved by Weston, and Hay and Baker assisted in clearing the Albion lino. Patrick, breaking through, gave the Cardinals a good opening, which failed by faulty passing f and Hay frustrating Mason* the Blacks found Doell impassable. Henry returned well, and P. Burns, Gray, Weston, R. Burns, and Hardingham, by a good passing rush, had the Sydenham defending. A free kick gave Hay a mark, which Weston failed to improve upon. Mason with a nico run, broke through, but Eathorne nicoly repelled. Burns again set his backs in motion, and Weston kicking, Doell marked, and gave his side relief. Gray was prominent in ropulsing a passing rush by the Cardinal backs, and with Luko shifted play to Sydenham's half. Doell with fine kicking went back, and Henry fumbling, Hutchings kicked to tho Sydenham fine, where off-side play by Mays gave Howison a shot without result, repenting tho performance again from a mark by Ryan. P. Burns was instrumental in warding off a rush by the Sydenham forwards shortly before half-time sounded. Passing between P. Burns, Gray and It. Burns gave Albion an advantage. On resuming J. Mahony relieved with good footwork, and after exchanges between tho backs, Luke broke away. Doell staving off a rush by the Black vanguard. Hutchings intercepting, camo through, and _ assisted by Patrick, had Albion defending. Hutchings got hurt and had to retire, and McPhail and Patrick headed a rush to the Albion half, Henry again saving. The Cardinal forwards went bock, but Henry's play was distinctly gocd, and stopped the rush. Hutching}?, resuming, broke through, and being badly obstructed by Hay, Doell had a fruitless shot. A nice run by Gray re move* I tiio scene to the Sydenham twenty-five, and Henry, marking, Wcstou kicked a fino goal. P. Burns was conspicuous for good ploy, but Doell warded off tlie onslaught, and Howison and Hutchings had Henry busy. The Blacks returned. Doell again saving, and Mahony, charging Weston's return, the suburban team had the Albion defence tested. Play was again stopped owii.g to o, mishap to McKenzio. Misfielding by Hardingham let the Cardinal forwards back again, and exciting play on the Albion line followed. Mason failed to pass, Weston kicking out as time sounded with the score—
