SATURDAY'S MATCHES.
The various grounds, though greasy, made a good recovery from Saturday morning's frost., and were in fair order for the continuation of the Canterbury liugby Union's competitions. At Lancaster Park chief interest centred in the return contest bet-ween Albion and Svdonham, the former retaining their unbeaten record, alter a very even and cloml- game, by 3 points (a penalty goal) to nil. Merivale had the best of tho encounter against Old Boys, and secured 11 points to their opponents' nil. On the South ground Linwood beat Christchureh by G points, the losers failing to score. The competition is now a certainty for Albion, and the Blacks' backs .havo been mainly their strong point, the two New Zealand representatives. Burns and Gra- being most prominent. Afternoon tea was dispensed by the lady members of the Morivalo Club, and the attendance was good, the takings amounting to £67 18s 3d.
