« ' _ (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM. I WELLINGTON, April 21. Tho Teachers' Superannuation Board hold its quarterly meeting to-day. The Hon. G. Fowlds, Minister for Education, presided, and there were in attendance Mr G., Hoghos, In-euector-General of. Schools; - Dr. Fitchett, Solicitor-General; Colonel Collins, Secretary to tJv> Tresis enry; Mr TV. H. Nekton, president of the N«w Zealand Educational Institute;- Messrs Davidson . and Hughes, contributors' representatives for ,the South Island; and Messrs W, Foster and W. T. Grundy, contributors' representatives for the North Island. Pensions wore granted tin four cases of teachers ivho, being over 60 years of age, had retired from tho service. Allowances were granted to two applicants for benefits under the Act. on the ground that they were medically unfit for duty. Pensions were awarded in five cases to the widows of former contributors to the fund, and allowances wore made to the children until they reach the age of 14 years. There were 38 applicants granted refunds of their contributions. They had retired from the education service before being entitled to any benefits under the Act. It was reported thnt at the end of March last thore wero 25&3 contributors to the fund—ll36 males and 1417 females. The balance at credit of the tund was stated to be over £02.000. Of this amount £11,000 j was invested at 5 per cent.. £37,100 at 4jf percent., and a balance of j £14,000 was remaining in the menr.- ---| time in the hands of the Public Trus- ; tee, bearing interest at 4 per cent. ;>er annum.
