EXTRAORDINARY MURDER PLOT ALLEGED. United Press Association—By Electrio TelegTaph—Copyright. LONDON, October 13. Veltheim asserts that the late Mr Barney Barnato offered him £16,000 to murder Kruger. After 'All* - Barney Barnato's 6uicido (says Veltheim), Mr Woolf Joel refused to pay, on theground that nothing had been done to execute the plot. A quarrel and tho shooting of Mr Woolf Joel ensued. Veltheim was arrested a few weeks ago in Paris on a charge of attempting to blackmail a -brother of his former victim, Mr S. B. Joel, to the extent of £16.000. Mr S. B. Joel is now tho head of the Rand mining house of Barnato. His brother "Woolf was the favourite nephew of their late uncle, the once-famous millionaire, Barney Barnato; and Veltheim, also known as "The Baron," was an intimate associate of various members of the family on the Rand in tho early nineties. Veltheim shot Mr Woolf Joel in his office in Johannesburg in 1893, and was acquitted on the ground that he acted in self-defence.
