$ (SPECIAL TO "TTfF. PRrSS.") DUXKWX, Juno 10. A disgraceful condition of affairs was revealed during the hearing of a case against an old man named Thomson nnd three women, who were charged with vagrancy at tho Police Court this morning. It wan stated that tbe women had been living in o hut off Wnlkor street with Thomson. They had been drinking to excess, nnd loud complaints had been m-ado by neighboors of their doings. TII.O neighbours had found it necessary to ehnt their children up becauso their morals were being corrupted, and because of the langtiago of the accused. No one near tho pi jce had been able to sleep nt night for noise. When tho police entered the hut on Saturday afternoon they found tho four lying drunk on tho floor amidst a frightful 6tonch. and in* varying states of d'sorrier. The only article of furniture in tho place was a couch, and tho floor was in such «. beastly condition as to be an absolute mon-aco to health. Thomson and one of tho women wero sent to gaol for three months, and tho other two to tho Salvation Army Homo. This hut and seventeen other small dwellings in tho samo locality have since boen condemned by the Health Officer as unfit for habitation.
