FOOTBALL.

An Association football renrewnta+ive match was played on Tuesday at Kaponga between Taranaki and Auckland, and resulted in a win for Auckland by threo goals to one.

The Ellesmero Rugby Union's Sevcn-a-side Tournament was played at Leeston yesterday. In the final game Leeston defeated Irwell by one try to j nil. The Leeston Club has won both championships this season, securing the - shield* for club championships, and tho gold medals for tho seven-a-sido tour- j nament. The final interprovincial football fix-! ture of the season will take place at Lancaster Park on Saturday afternoon. It is understood that the personnel of tho Canterbury team will be practically the same as that which opposed Southland last Saturday, and if so' an ex- , tremely good game should bo witnessed. ' The Otago team includes McDonald, Casev. and Booth of "All Black" fame, and Canterbury, McGregor and Deans, which should invest the match with more than ordinary interest. The grounds are in splendid condition at present, and if the weather keeps fine everything will be in favour of a scientific display of football. >
