CAPETOWN, May 18. Six Chinese in tho Transvaal have
applied for repatriation,
DEPUTATION TO THE PREMIER
FORCIBLE REPATRIATION WANTED.
Sir Henry Campbell-Ban norm an received a deputation of members of the House of Commons, consisting of Major See.ly, Messrs Mackarness, Lehmainn, Russell, and Dalziel regarding tlio Chinese on the Rand. Tho proceedings were- secret, but it is understood that tho deputation urged the forcible repatriation of tlio Chinese in batches, since tho proclamation had been resultless.
Tho "Daily Chronicle" states that tho policy of a clean sweep is impossible. It would croate an economic crisis, and inflict -gravo injury on the innocent. It is better to await the new Government's decision, which, will probably favour repatriation.
