ROAD BOARDS.
RIOCARTON. The Riccarton Road Board met- on November 16th. Present—Messrs 8. A. Staples (chairman), H. J. Derrctt, J. J. Dougall, J. E. Hanson, and G. W. Thomas. In reference to Vague* road, it was decided to inform to© petitioners tnat as £oon as tiie freeholder dedicated the land as a public road, the Board would favourably' consider the question of forming a footpath, etc. It' wa*' decided .to purchas© birds' ejrgs at 2d per dozen. No more ehingle will 0© disposed of except under exceptional circumstances. Tbe Board decided to approve of a proposed extension of Whitt-kigh avenue, and also of proposed roads through R.S. 153 a and lai, on condition that they are slightly altered, so as to form a continuation of tbe ♦•xisting dedicated roads. Mr J. Deans's -iqnest that the Board's surveyor should Mir.A-rvise his formation of Striven road, ai.d thx> balance of Matai street, was agreed to. Mr A. K. G. Rhodes wilt a plan showing the portion of Clarence road wideuvd to one, chain, and requesting tbe Board to take over the land necessary to widen tho road. Th© Commissioner of Crown Lands wrote asking the Board to clear fint the drain along the boundaries of Lot 1 Knimata. .Settlement; also stating that the eradication of tliistles on the section wu-uld lw> taken in hand by the local branch of th© Agricultural Department.
