MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS.
NEW BRIGHTON.
GREATER CHRISTCHURCH. Nomination*! for seats on the City Council have to bo in the hands of the returning officer (Mr H. Thomson) before noon tomorrow, and consequently theaxi has been an appreciablo increase in tho number of nominations received. The election takes place on tho 29th inst. Following in a complete list of nominations received for Mayor and Councillors to date: — Mr Henry F. Wigram (the present Mayor of Christchurch] baa been nominated "for the mayoralty of Greater Christchurch by Mr W. Rcece and Councillor C. JL Gray. Tlie following nominations of candidate* for seata on tho Council have been received : — Central Ward—Merer* J. M. Taylor, W. E. Samuels, H. B. Sorensen. H. J. Berwick, G. Simpson, G. Puyling, C. M. Gray, and H. 11. Loughnan. Sydenham Ward—Messrs J. Hadfield, B. P. Manhire, J. Forrceter, and J. Butterfield. St. Albans Ward—Messrs G. Hyde, H. E. Morgan, and C. Lafferty. Linwood Ward—Messrs H. Pearce, H. J. Otlov, and T. N. Horslev. Mr H. G. Ell, M.H.R., although not yet nominated, has definitely decided to be a candidate for one of the cents on the Council, and will stand for the Sydenham Ward. Mr W. H. Cooper, ex-Mayor and Councillor, has consented fo become a candidate for one of the seats in the Central Ward.
Mr C. H. Winny was elected Mayor oj New Brighton unopposed. < The following have been nominated for scats on t he New Brighton Borough Conn* cil:—Messrs C. Foster. W. H. Bellamy J. Glanvir.e, J. R. Brant, B. Hindle, C. J, Chyton, G. D. McFarlanc, W. Edwanfa, H. E. Musgrave, and A. H. Wyatt, Ai there is one more than is required, an else tion will be held. WOOLSTON. The following were the W T oolston nomtaa* tioua:— Messrs T. N. Champ, W. Gimblett, J. Gough. J. Hayes, D. Moore, J. MulHa, John Sprendbury, W. T. Thomas, and W. Woodhou;*. As the number does not «*• oecd the requisite number of Councillors, these geutlemen wero declared duh? elected. For the mayoralty there are two candid :. date*. Messrs J. Richardson and F. 8. Yates. The election will take place on thi 29th inst. RANGIORA. Mr Jas. Carmichael was elected Mayor unopposed. For Councillors Messrs Samuel Avers, John James Yarrow Baber, Charter William Bell, Edward Richard Good, Arthur William Hill, Charles Ivory Jennings, ', Jvdward William Relph, John Sanson*, Willian Thomas Wilson were duly declared elected, as there wero nine nominations ft*' : the nine seats. Mr John Townlcy ha* been re-tied*!: Mayor of Gisborne unopposed. For nine ■ scats on the Borough Council there are' fifteen candidates.
