SATURDAY'S PRACTICE GAMES.
The final practice matches of the various clubs previous to the opening of the competitions under the auspices of the Canterbury Rugby Union, were held on Saturday. The weather was fine, but, owing to the absence of rain, the ground was hard. The. C_r_stchur_b Club's game was between two picked fifteens, most of whom were membera of the first nnd third teams, and a fast open game was tho result, each side scoring freely. The Linwood Club's (seniors tried conclusions with the ranainder of the clubj who turned up in fair numbers, and allround improved form was exhibited. The Merivale Club did not have a very large muster, but the members of the Fcndnlton Club joined in with them, and a good game resulted. The High School, Old Boys, and Canterbury College each had good attendances, and the members, indulging in «. lot of passing, caused the play in both to be fast, and the -coring high. Two or three junior teams also held practices at the North Park. On tho South Park tlio Albion FC. bad a large attendance, as did the Sydenham Club, at Sydenham.
